Romanian wine exports for 2015 reach 14 million litres worth €24m
Here we take a look at the headline figures recently released by APEV Romania - The Wine Exporters and Producers Association - for its production and export figures in 2015.
* In all Romania exported 14 million litres of wine in 2015 worth €24 million.
* Its biggest export markets are the UK, Germany, China, the Netherlands and Bulgaria.
* The vast majority of its wines (78%) goes to the major European markets with 11m litres of wines worth €17m.
* The remaining 22%, 3m litres and worth €7m went to countries around the world.
* China is now Romania's biggest non-European market
* The United States imports 800,000 litres of Romanian wine, with Canada taking in 300,000 littres.
* The best price for Romanian wine comes from Finland at €5.63 a litre. But it only imported 6,300 litres in 2015.
* Hungary pays €5.41 per litre.
* Luxembourg pays €4.71 but only shipped 6,000 litres of wine.
* The lowest price comes from Slovakia at €0.59 per litre.
* Bulgaria pays €0.79 per litre.
* Cramele Recas, Oprisor and Halewood are responsbile for around half of all exports.
