Barefoot the biggest contributor to sales growth in UK wine category

Gallo’s Barefoot brand has forecast double digit growth in the coming year, after being named the biggest contributor to sales growth in the UK wine catetgory by market researchers Nielsen.
In the past two years, Barefoot has added £57m to its value, with over half (53%) of this growth down to existing customers buying more Barefoot wine.
The Californian wine giant also owns the number one best selling Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Pink Moscato in the UK market, with the varietals recording growth of 15%, 23% and 12% respectively. The combined value of the three grew by £14.4m, according to Nielsen.
Barefoot’s Malbec range which was launched in 2017 was also a strong performer, with sales up by 60% in 2018, three times faster than the overall Malbec category.
According to Olga Senkina, Barefoot’s marketing director EMEA, the brand has enjoyed “exceptional” success since it ws first launched in the UK ten years ago. “Its unique and approachable persona resonates with a broad range of consumers, whether it’s new drinkers or loyal ‘foot fans’.
